Pen Tool Instructions
Draw- 1. Loosen the Pen Tool by turning the barrel, wider pens may require loosening the barrel more.
- 2. Insert a pen in to the Pen Tool and tighten it in place by turning the barrel. Do not over-tighten.
- 3. Open or create an image in Inspiration Studio™.
- 4. Apply paper onto the cutting mat and insert the mat into the Inspiration Creative Cutter™.
- 5. In Inspiration Studio, select ‘Cut Project’ to open the Cut Control Panel.
- 6. Under the ‘Select your media type’ drop-down menu, select ‘Draw.’
- 7. Press ‘Start’ in the Cut Control Panel to draw your design.
- 8. If the pen drags, try lowering your pressure or insert your pen so that it sits higher in the Pen Tool. Generally the tip should stick out about 1/8″.
- 9. Assign different colors to your pen lines to use multiple pen colors.

Other Tips and Tricks
Add accents to a design with the Pen Tool before cutting.- 1. Create your image in Inspiration Studio.
- 2. In Inspiration Studio change the pen lines that you wish to draw to a different color than the pen lines you wish to cut.
- 3. Follow instructions 4–6 under ‘Draw’
- 4. In the Cut Control Panel, select the color box that matches the color of the image you wish to draw.
- 5. Select ‘Cut Project.’ When your project is finished, do not remove the cutting mat and paper.
- 6. Once drawing is complete, replace the Pen Tool with the Blade Holder.
- 7. Select the color box that matches the outline of your image.
- 8. Select ‘Cut Project’ to begin cutting.
- 1. Create your image in Inspiration Studio.
- 2. Using the ‘Select Elements’ tool, select the image you want to fill in.
- 3. Under the ‘Shape’ drop-down menu, select ‘Inside’ under ‘Engraving.’
- 4. In the window that appears put a value of 0.10 or less under ‘Tool’ (use 0.02 for a solid fill).
- 5. Select ‘S-Sweep’ from the Style drop down menu under ‘Fill’
- 6. Select ‘Ok’ to fill in your design.
